The End of our First Leg

Day 78

In order to attend our granddaughter’s graduation from George Mason University, we return to our driveway on Placid Drive. This is the 78th day on the road counting from February 20, 2016.

We have pulled the Sphinx for 3,112 miles, with sightseeing in the truck for an additional 2,073 miles.

We plan to be back on the road by June 28, 2016. There is a week between Barbara’s family get-together in Alabama and the Fireman’s Convention in Ocean City, Maryland. We might take a trip to western Maryland and go over the Allegheny Mountains to prepare for crossing the Rockies.

Until then: chocolate cures everything, and eat ice cream every day, you can’t go wrong.

Technical Stuff:

Chesterfield, Va. to Baldwin Md.    226.2 miles

5 hours  42  minutes

11.0 MPG

Diesel: $1.86 gallon

Say goodnight, Gracie

  1. Do you live in the Sphinx part of Mat until June 28th? If not, where do you park it? Do your neighbors let you keep it on your driveway?

    1. We are living in the Sphinx in our driveway. I doubt the neighbors will complain, as I know a good lawyer. A few years ago Barbara wanted to change the color of our house addition to match the rest of the house, the homeowners association objected. They hired a lawyer to get Barbra to comply. Fortunately she knew a good lawyer, and the association lost, and it cost them $500.00. I don’t anticipate any problems.

  2. After the fireman’s convention we will be leaving to go west, toward you, that should be June 28th. I don’t think we will make it to California this time. We will be taking the northern route, since it will be the summertime. In the meantime, we are better organizing the Sphinx. Dropping off things we did not need, and picking up things we do.
