Carhenge, Nebraska

Day 171

Jim Reinders, a man with obviously too much time on his hands, decided he wanted to build a replica of Stonehenge in his home town of Alliance. Since he did not have granite slaps in Alliance he decided to use cars.

He also made other stuff from cars:

87,000 people visit this site each year. But I don’t see how they would know, since no one counted us when we came.

  1. I love that place, as goofy as it is. The west is all about Americana. Whether it’s Carhenge in NE, World’s Largest Truck Stop in Walcott, IA (it’s off 80), Wall Drug in SD, Hole N the Rock in Moab, UT, Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX, UFO Museum in Roswell, NM, Little Al’ Le’ Inn at Area 51 in NV, Goonies Museum in Astoria, OR, Meteor Crater in AZ……we have been to them all…it is truly what makes America great. Have fun along 80…. Don P.
