Olustee, Florida

Day 346

One of the few Civil War battles that took place in Florida occurred on February 20, 1864 at Olustee, Florida.

You are probably tired of me telling you about obscure battles of the Civil War, so I will spare you my narrative, only to say, the Confederates won this battle.

  1. According to Wikipedia, mistakes were made on both sides. Apparently the only Union success was by by elements of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment and the 35th United States Colored Troops, both composed of black soldiers. Thanks for making me aware of this interesting battle.
